Coming together is a beginning Keeping together is progress Working together is success
Machine Tool Industry Summit
Continuous transformation and learning is the name of the game. Stagnation is death. Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) conceived a strategy map to enable “Long Term Industry Growth” and embarked on the first ever Machine Tool Industry Summit in the year 2005. The summit provides a forum to the entire machine tool fraternity, viz., machine tool builders, sub-suppliers, accessory & allied equipment manufacturers, vendors, R&D institutions, industry experts and individuals to network, collate ideas and set forth a process of organised thinking, analysis and deliberations.
1st Machine Tool Industry Summit
The 1st Machine Tool Industry Summit was held in Goa, from May 6-8, 2005. The theme of the summit was ‘Unleashing the Power of Indian Machine Tool Industry’ through the ‘gathering of the clan’ and ‘learning, sharing and exploring’. This was achieved by bringing together all the stakeholders of the machine tool industry. This summit is today remembered not just for the excellent presentations during the day, but also for the fun-packed entertainment programmes in the evening.
2nd Machine Tool Industry Summit
The 2nd Summit took place in Goa from May 3-5, 2007. The business scenario was extremely bright. The theme for this summit was ‘Gearing-up for Explosive Growth in manufacturing’. The summit met with overwhelming success.
3rd Machine Tool Industry Summit
The 3rd summit held in Goa from May 6-8 2010 riding on the recovery after a global slowdown. Theme for this summit was ‘Outpacing Market Growth.’ The structure radically different from the earlier summits focused on seven core areas concerning the industry and was structured in the form of highly-interactive panel discussions.
4th Machine Tool Industry Summit
The 4th Machine Tool Summit was held from 17 – 20 May 2012 at the beautiful hill city of Lavasa. 325 delegates representing 100 companies came under one roof to discuss and deliberate the changing business realities of machine tool industry. The summit revolved around the broad theme of “THINK BIG” – by taking big steps and making bigger decisions.
5th Machine Tool Industry Summit
The 5th Machine Tool Industry Summit was held at Goa on 1-4 May 2014. Over 250 delegates made it a successful mega event by actively participating from across India. The three day summit included well planned strategic sessions, panel discussions and presentations from experts and achievers from Indian machine tool industry. The summit was divided into multiple thought provoking sessions; some of them held concurrently, with ample discussion breaks for company introspections, brain storming, Q&A sessions and networking.
6th Machine Tool Industry Summit
Since the 5th Summit held in 2014, there is a sea change in the external environment. Several initiatives of the government are opening up new vistas for Indian Economy, and it’s Machine Tool Sector. Manufacturing is finally at center stage. ‘Make in India’, the new buzz word. Indian economy is the lone shining star in an otherwise gloomy global scenario and a GDP growth rate of 7.5 is no longer that aspirational.
Now, leave the shores of India and you see a world which is at once Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous. The open markets of India are not immune to the violent winds blowing in OPEC or the Tsunami that is hitting some of world’s largest economies. Hammer and Sickle are falling apart and the Latino dance is losing it’s pep. Commodity prices are fluctuating dramatically without anyone understanding the whys of it.
With this context in the background, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) is organising the 6th Machine Tool Industry Summit, from 12-15 May 2016, Kochi. The summit will feature a vast spectrum of ‘must attend’ sessions that are designed to be highly interactive to discuss, debate and take forward new ideas and action plans especially to meet the challenges facing the industry. The theme for this Summit is “The new paradigms - Driving growth from 'Make in India', winning in a VUCA world”.
This summit is in continuation of IMTMA’s ongoing efforts to bring together the entire Machine Tool Industry fraternity :- Machine tool builders, Sub-system suppliers, accessory & allied equipment manufacturers, Vendors, Service Providers, R & D institutions and industry experts, in order to realise the common objectives. The event offers an excellent opportunity to network and address key challenges for sustainable growth and development.
