The Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) successfully organised the 19th edition of the National Productivity Summit on 13 and 14 November 2025 in Ahmedabad, with over 220 delegates participating.
The two-day summit was inaugurated by Ms. Mamta Verma, IAS, Principal Secretary of Industries and Mines, Government of Gujarat, and Mr. Rajendra Shah, Chairman of Harsha Engineers International Limited. Ms. Mohini Kelkar, President - IMTMA, and Mr. Jibak Dasgupta, Director General and CEO of IMTMA, shared the dais.
Mr. T.K. Ramesh, Managing Director of ACE Designers Limited, delivered a special address. Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Plant Head, Sanand, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, made a unique presentation on the Success Story of TATA Motors Sanand unit.
Ms. Mamta Verma emphasised Gujarat’s industrial landscape in the context of Viksit Bharat 2047 and called for bold thinking and collaboration. Describing manufacturing as the backbone of India’s economy, she urged industries to enhance quality, affordability, and customer focus to remain globally competitive.
Mr. Rajendra Shah spoke about Viksit Bharat 2047. He suggested an optimistic roadmap to transform India into a developed nation within its 100th year of independence. He emphasised that technology and mindset will play crucial roles in achieving global competitiveness.
Ms. Mohini Kelkar emphasised the summit’s importance at a time when manufacturing is becoming increasingly vital to the country's growth agenda. The National Productivity Summit supports the machine tool industry in increasing its competitiveness and achieving new levels of success.
Mr. Jibak Dasgupta explained that productivity is the output generated from each unit of input, whether it be labour, capital, raw materials, infrastructure, or technology. Businesses must improve across all these areas to increase productivity, which can be achieved through technology and management interventions such as process optimisation, technology integration, and supply chain efficiency.
Pre-summit plant visits were organised on 12 November 2025 to various plants around Ahmedabad. Delegates visited Bosch Rexroth, Harsha Engineers, Milacron India, SLTL Group, Gabriel India, and Adient India to witness the latest productivity improvement practices implemented on their shop floors.

IMTMA - ACE MICROMATIC Productivity Championship Awards 2025 were awarded during the summit. The National Productivity Summit 2025 featured thought-provoking keynote addresses from manufacturing industry leaders and live case-study presentations on productivity advancements from leading companies.

This year, Tata Electronics developed a unique Industry 4.0 application for process communication, machine learning, and automated optical inspection, deployed across more than 5,000 machines. For this scale of horizontal deployment, the jury awarded them the Excellence in Technology Adoption Award for the first time.
The other companies that won the Certificate of Merit were Ashok Leyland, Kirloskar Toyota Textile Machinery, and Lakshmi Druken Komponents.
Overall, the summit highlighted why companies need to adopt an integrated approach to boost manufacturing productivity and prepare their people, processes, and technology for the journey towards productivity excellence.
