Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) and Agastya International Foundation launched a Mobile Science Lab (MSL van) at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru. The MSL van was flagged off in the presence of L. Krishnan, Chairman, IMTMA CSR Committee, V. Anbu, Director General and CEO, IMTMA, and K. Thiagarajan, COO, Agastya International Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, L. Krishnan said, “IMTMA is sponsoring this project as part of its CSR initiative. MSL van is an innovative step towards attaining mobility, sparking curiosity, nurturing creativity and building confidence among the children studying in rural schools. The mobile science lab will have various hands-on science models covering a range of subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology, besides conducting science fairs. This will raise awareness among children on the values of learning with a focus on science.”
Supporting Krishnan’s views, V. Anbu added, “IMTMA has always extended its support to local educational institutions as well as undertaken various skill building initiatives through its training programmes. MSL van is an extended outreach programme to ignite knowledge among the young minds and enable them become innovators.”
Addressing delegates, Thiagarajan said, “The MSL van will cater to multiple schools where trained instructors will conduct sessions for children related to their academic stream thus supplementing their education. MSL van will have models and experiments that will offer a hands-on experience to children.
