MEETING OF IMTMA REGIONAL COUNCIL (West)

10  January 2024 at Accurate Gauging & Instruments Private Limited, Pune

Major points discussed during the meeting:-

• Industry Status/Data trend & Demonstration of Membership Dashboard
• Interactive factory visits to customers, member companies
• Academia Interaction with engineering institutes through IMTMA
• Participation in international fairs, branding, exports
• Upcoming events- ISFT, IMTEX Forming, PMTX , FACTEQ
• Learnings from IMTMA’s 17th 'VISION' Conclave: 14 - 17 December 2023.

The meeting was followed by a presentation on best practices by Accurate Gauging & Instruments Private Limited and visit to the company's facilities in Hardaspur.

After the meeting members visited both factories of Grind Master Machines and interacted with the team.

9 December 2022  at Sahajanand Laser Technology Ltd, Gandhinagar

The following points were discussed during the meeting:-

• Activities by Regional Council West
• Industry Trends
• Expectations from members of Ahmedabad, Vadodara 
• COBIZ –MSME Cluster
• Formation of a cluster in Gujarat -Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and nearby areas
• IMTMA Training programmes/seminars/Skill devp Initiatives in Ahmedabad
• Concern was raised about the interest of the young generation and engineers to join the machine tool industry.

After the RCW meeting members visited Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd,Sanand, and had an interaction with TMPVL team

23 April 2022  (Friday)  :  ‘Virtual Platform’

Mrs. Mohini Kelkar, Chairperson, Regional Council (West) chaired the meeting and welcomed Regional council members to this first meeting of new financial year.

The following points were discussed during the meeting

• Updates on activities by Regional Council West and review
• Mr. Rajesh Mandlik briefed members about COBIZ -IMTMA MSME Cluster
• Mr Gautam Doshi briefed members on upcoming Machine Tool Industry Summit.
• Information on Task forces shared by chairperson and respective task force members with RCW members
• Activities to be taken up under regional councils & Suggestions by members

Meeting held on 24 December 2021: Virtual Mode

Mrs Mohini Kelkar, Chairperson, Regional Council (West) chaired the meeting and welcomed Regional council members.

Chairperson briefed members about the activities of RC (W) in the year. Following point were mentioned 

• IMTMA All Members (Western Region)Meeting & A Session on HR - A Strategic Partner In The Business held on 12th Jan 2021( Attended by 38 members )
• Special session on MSME schemes was organised on 19th February 2021( Attended by 32 members)
• IMTMA All Members (Western Region)Meeting with main agenda as “Sharing of Challenges in managing business operations and solutions adopted by members in current situation”. Concluded  on 28th May 2021(Attended by 20 members )
• Dipstick Survey conducted to understand expectations of Western Region members
• An Interactive meeting with The Dean R&D & team of professors of IIT, Bombay was organised on 22nd June 2021 with oobjective of Exploring Possibility of joint working in R&D.(Attended by 16 IMTMA members & 7 IIT faculty members).
• A Special Session for RC Members on “Building Business Immunity” was organized on 12th October 2021. The session was delivered by Mr. Manish Gupta, Chairman of Chrysalis Pvt. Ltd. – company specializing in entrepreneurial consulting and personal growth coaching and 41 IMTMA members participated.
• CEO Connect Webinars - ‘connecting with Academia / Engineering Colleges’ was held on 16th August 2021 for WADIA College of Engineering and on 28th September 2021 for DKTE COE, Kolhapur.

Secretariat briefed members about industry statistics and trends of Indian machine tool industry. Data on production, consumption and order booking were presented to members.

• Mrs Kelkar briefed members about visit to Tata Motors and Tata Auto Comp Systems was organised on 12th November 2021 in Pune to explore opportunities in EVs for machine tool industry. Visit report with detailed requirement is hosted on IMTMA Website for information of all members.
• Mr Rajesh Mandlik briefed members about key take always of recent IMTMA Vision Symposium.

Chairperson invited Mr M G Srinivas –Executive Director IMTMA to brief members about preparations and provide updates on IMTEX 2022. Following point were briefed during presentation:

• Trade Delegation
• Covid Safety Protocols At BIEC
• Safety Measures For IMTEX
• Safety Sops For IMTEX
• Exhibitions Held In BIEC In 2021

Meeting was attended by around 42 members. IMTMA Members raised various queries and concerns related to IMTEX 2022 which were addressed by Mr M G Srinivas and he assured to extend complete support from IMTMA. 

Meeting held on 8 May 2021 :  ‘Virtual Platform’

Mrs Mohini Kelkar, Chairperson, Regional Council (West) chaired the meeting and welcomed members.

• Review of Minutes of earlier meetings was done & updates were shared during the meeting.
• Chairperson briefed members on discussions held with Deputy Executive Director of ACMA
• Sharing of Challenges in managing business operations and solutions adopted by members in current situation.

Following issues are faced by members in current COVID situation:-

• Issues in Fabrication/cutting due to restriction in Oxygen supply
• Delay in customs clearances
• Despatches are on hold. Delay in delivery of transit goods due to different rules in different states.
• In Pune and Aurangabad area, all factories are allowed to work, but in Mumbai formal permissions are required.
• Employees are getting detected with covid and they have to complete mandatory quarantine period. So running with full capacity is challenging.
• Incoming order booking & enquiry flow is less at the moment, barring the case with few members.
• Raw material prices eg. Steel, casting, sheet metal are going up.
• Vaccination issues

Following positive points with solutions have been adopted by members are mentioned below.

• Aurangabad industries including Grindmaster have contributed towards creating facilities like beds, oxygen concentrators etc.
• Regular and close contact with customers by sales team
• Maintaining transparency with customers and vendors is important in the situation eg. delivery time etc.
• SLTL conducted webinar on use of air as alternative to oxygen in factories for industries.
• All members are closely monitoring employee health on priority.

Meeting held on 11 Dec 2020

IMTMA all members (Western Region) meeting & a session on HR - A Strategic Partner In The Business held on 12th Jan 2021

Proposed initiative areas of the Council:-

• Sessions for members -eg.Branding,HR practices,Finance, Cash flow management,MSME schemes,Digital marketing etc
• Interaction to be arranged with ACMA regional chapter
• Have better connect with Institute/Academia/Engineering colleges/ITIs
• To expand activities of IMTMA in other cites & Geographical areas eg. Nashik, Kolhapur, Aurangabad & Gujrat

Meetings held on 19th April 2020, 15th July 2020 and 21st August 2020

All the Regional Council meetings were held on the Zoom platform. The members discussed the machine tool industry data and scenario. Members shared their views on the current issues like - delay in deliveries, payments from customer end, price reduction requests from customers etc.

The possibility to have interaction with ACMA members was also explored during the meetings.

21 August 2020: HR Practices To Tackle Covid Induced Situation

Meeting on 17th January 2020, at IMTMA Technology Centre, Pune

The IMTMA Regional Council (West) meeting was held on January 17, 2020, at the IMTMA Technology Centre, Pune followed by an interactive meeting with L&T defence to understand business opportunities and qualitative requirements.

Meeting on 19th July 2019, at FIBRO India Precision Products Pvt. Ltd.

The Regional Council West meeting was held on July 19, at FIBRO India Precision Products Pvt Ltd , Chakan, Pune with a visit to Fibro manufacturing facilities.

During the meeting the Machine Tool Industry Data and scenario were discussed along with a decision by the members to look for new opportunities of business in aerospace, defence, Railways & electrical vehicles. The members visited Volkswagen India, Chakan factory after the meeting.

Meeting on 28 December 2018, at IMTMA Technology Centre, Pune

Meeting on 12th October 2018, at Hotel Kyraid, Pune

• Briefing on 'VISION 2022' - Regional Conclave for MSMEs of Machine Tools & Value Chain : 16 & 17 November 2018
• Information sharing on TMTP-Tumukuru Machine tool Park &Membership Reward Points Redemption Scheme
• Machine Tool Industry Data and scenario was discussed
• Membership reward point scheme information shared with members
• Information sharing on Symposium on Automation scheduled on 23 Nov 2018, in Pune
• Check possibility to conduct meetings in specific industrial areas to increase participation from members from the area.eg. Chakan, Sinhgad Rd Industrial Area
• In upcoming RCW meetings members to make presentation on challenges in resp. factories
• To have more focused factory visits to customer factories- tier 1 & Tier 2 which e.g. Endurance group , Reliable autotech, Sansera Engg etc.

Meeting on 12 July 2018: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Powai

• Prior to the RCW Meeting, an 'interactive meeting and visit to IIT BOMBAY was organised.
• Dean, Asso.Dean R&D–IIT Interacted with RCW members. Various departments of IIT made a presentation which was followed by visit to various laboratories @IIT like Machine tool lab, Mechanical Engg lab, 3 D printing Lab,Laser application lab etc

• Review of Action points of previous meeting.
• Briefing on ACMA-IMTMA Joint committee meeting & suggestions
• To have more focused factory visits to customer factories- tier 1 & Tier 2 which e.g. Endurance group , Reliable autotech, Sansera Engg etc.

Meeting on 24 February 2018: IMTMA Technology Centre, Chinchwad, Pune

Chairperson, Mrs. Mohini Kelkar chaired the meeting and welcomed regional council (West) members for the second meeting of the Regional Council (West) - year 2017-18.

Chairperson briefed members about following points discussed during recent EC meeting 

• IMTEX FORMING 2018 & Tooltech 2018 
• Industry Data / Market Trend
• Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Centre (AMTDC)/ DHI schemes for R&D 
• ACMA -IMTMA joint study report
• VISION 2022

A presentation on the industry data was done during the meeting. A visit to the DRDO and the customer factories was also suggested during the meeting. A special session on industry 4.0 was conducted by Mr. Avinash Khare.  

Meeting on 19 December 2017, Tuesday, IMTMA Technology Centre, Chinchwad, Pune

Prior to the RCW Meeting, an 'interactive meeting and plant visit' to Mercedes-Benz India Pvt Ltd, Chakan, was organised. Mercedes-Benz India made a presentation which was followed by the visit to vehicle assembly plant. The visit was appreciated by the members.

• Presentation on various important points - Vision workshop.
• Machine Tool Industry Data –Current market trend
• Machine Tool Industry Summit 2018
• Discussion on Work plan of Regional Council West - 2017-18 (Discussion on  Various initiative to be planned in western region.)
• Sessions for members to be scheduled on various topics of interest to members @ IMTMA office.
• To have more focused factory visits to customer factories which are planning for new investments

Meeting on 07th October 2016, Friday in Chinchwad, Pune.

Meeting of the IMTMA Regional Council (West) was held on 07th October 2016 in Pune.

The meeting included a presentations such as, Presentation on Machine Tool Industry Data, Presentation by Members on new innovations & developments, Presentation on Pune Machine Tool Show 2016 / 17, Presentation on Future plan for Pune Technology Centre activities & presentation on GST by PricewaterhouseCoopers Private Ltd.

After the meeting, IMTMA Regional Council (West) members visited TAL - Robotic application centre & assembly shop. Members appreciated various application on display and congratulated TAL team.

The meeting was attended by 12 RC (W) members.

In the meeting the members suggested the following :

• Improve relations with engineering colleges,
• Members suggested to arrange training in following area which will be beneficial for IMTMA members :
  
  • Aesthetic design and styling for Machine Tools, IMTMA should consider having a common resource centre for this.
  • To consider course on Thermoforming & Packaging for Export of Machine Aggregates.
  • Improving Productivity for Assembly of Machine Tool
  • ACMA - IMTMA joint study report to be shared with all MEMBERS

10th June 2015 - IMTMA RC Meet @ IMTMA Regional Office Pune

 
  

Regional Council (West) of IMTMA had scheduled its meeting on 10 June 2015 at IMTMA office in Pune. During the meeting the following presentations were done:

• Advanced Machine Tool Testing Facility.
• Presentation on Revised Business Excellence Program for members.
• Information about Funding for Technology Development and Technology Acquisition under DHI Scheme.
• Presentation on DMTX & AMTX.

The meeting was attended by 18 RC (W) members.

24th December 2014 - IMTMA RC Meet @ IMTMA Regional Office Pune

Regional Council (West) of IMTMA had scheduled its meeting on 24 December 2014 at IMTMA office in Pune. During the meeting the following presentations were done:

• Work Plan – IMTMA Regional Council West.
• Vision 2020 -14th Conclave for CEOs & “UDAAN” Members of the Indian Machine Tool Industry
• Information sharing on ‘Guide to Indian Machine Tools (GIMT)’
• Presentation on IMTMA Technology Centre –PUNE
• Presentation on IMTEX 2015

The meeting was attended by 15 RC (W) members.
