From IMTMA Desk

When it comes to economic growth and managing inflation India is perhaps one of the safer bets as compared to global economies that are under pressure for various reasons. India is more likely to sustain itself and manage inflation well as summer fades and winter hits the northern hemisphere of the globe.

Government of India by identifying champion sectors and extending PLI schemes have been endeavouring to promote manufacturing growth and discussions are on to extend the PLI schemes to other sectors such as toys, furniture, bicycle and containers, leaving more room for easing economy.

NASSCOM, the trade association of Indian IT industry expects India’s spending on engineering, research and design to increase to around $120 billion by the end of the current decade increasing the global spend in engineering and design from around 25% to around 35% on the back of PLI schemes and launch of 5G.

Much depends on the August - October period when the festival season is around and consumer demand is expected to surge. Automakers are set to sell about sell about one million vehicles for the first time ever in a quarter. Machine tool industry needs to align its business accordingly for a sustained and broad based future prospects.

IMTEX which is South and South East Asia’s biggest exhibition on machine tool and manufacturing technology is coming back after a 4 year gap. Held at the sprawling grounds of Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru, the exhibition is receiving positive vibes with 750 exhibitors from 20+ countries.

Interestingly, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India has approved IMTEX 2023, Tooltech 2023 & Digital Manufacturing 2023 under the PMS Scheme. As per the scheme, MSEs (Micro & Small Enterprises) participating in IMTEX 2023 can avail reimbursements on expenses incurred for participating in the show. Eligible MSE participants at IMTEX 2023 need to apply as early as possible. This is available on a first come first serve basis and IMTMA isn’t accountable for any decision changes made by the government.
