From IMTMA Desk

As a country we are on the verge of overtaking United Kingdom to emerge as the 5th largest global economy. India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative recently completed 8 successful years and government initiatives including focus on semiconductors, reduction in compliance to bring down cost and enhance ease of doing business, PLIs to industries and preference to local industries in public procurement of goods and services augur well for manufacturing growth.

India is making rapid strides in railways with the launch of high speed LHB Vande Bharat trains and railway stations being revamped with modern amenities. Sentiments are highly positive in the Indian auto sector with good monsoon and festive season leading to encouraging demands from rural and urban areas. Electronics production in India are going a record high buoyed by government’s self-reliant India push. The country now aims to build a manufacturing ecosystem to make India a $300 billion country in electronics production by 2026.

Defence exports from India has seen a surge year-on-year. Many MSMEs are joining the defence sector to manufacture indigenous and cost-effective products and technologies. India’s merchandise exports, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry estimates for the April - September 2022-23 period was $229.05 billion, showing an increase of 15.54% as against $198.25 billion recorded during the April - September 2021-22 period. All these progresses are being achieved in face of the geo-political situation in Europe which is affecting manufacturing growth.

Meanwhile, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) is gearing up to organize its flagship mega event, National Productivity Summit on 18 and 19 November 2022 in Bengaluru followed by the much awaited IMTEX, Tooltech and Digital Manufacturing from 19 to 25 January 2023 at BIEC, Bengaluru.
