July 2010

Workshop On
"Workholding and Fixturing Techniques for Productivity Improvement on CNC Machines"
12 - 13 July 2010, SKF College Campus, SKF India Pvt. Ltd., Chinchwad, Pune

Workholders and fixtures are used on machines to reduce idle time and thereby reduce cost. Their optimum use not only improves productivity but eliminate quality defects. Often problems related to poor quality and productivity are a direct consequence of poor fixturing in terms of its choice or design. Reduction in set-up change is a challenge most manufacturers face and this is directly related to quality of fixturing.

Seminar on
"High Performance Machining Technology (HPM)"
15 - 16 July 2010, Technology Centre, BIEC, Bangalore

Advances in machining technology is revolutionizing the world of metal cutting. The ability to machine components in the shortest possible time is an issue of ever increasing importance. "High Performance Machining" (HPM) encompasses all types of machining operations, much more than high feeds and speeds, and is achieved when the best, most cost effective technologies are put to use on the shop floor. HPM is a comprehensive machining strategy that integrates the entire machine tool, toolings & tool holders, fixtures, Cutting fluids and CAM programming techniques. All these aspects are of paramount importance to ensure rapid delivery of high quality machined components. To maintain the competitive edge, it is imperative for the manufacturing industry to keep abreast of such developments and adapt them in the production process.

Workshop on
"Calibration of Dimensional Measuring Equipment & Evaluation of Uncertainty in Measurements"
16 - 17 July 2010, Paharpur Business Centre : Nehru Place, New Delhi

Obtaining accurate, reliable and traceable measurements is one of the basic requirements to achieve required levels of product quality in any manufacturing activity. The instruments/equipment used for measurements should be initially and also periodically calibrated to ensure fidelity of measurements. The process of 'Calibration' assumes greater significance in the light of advanced technology where interchangeability and functional reliability of critical and closely toleranced components and assemblies are of paramount importance.

Training Programme on
"Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T) in Design through Manufacturing"
21 - 23 July 2010, Technology Centre, BIEC, Bangalore

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) system eliminates ambiguities in engineering drawings and brings out the designer's intent very clearly. It ensures seamless communication between design, engineering, manufacturing and quality teams across the entire organization enabling them to work in a concurrent engineering environment. Application of GD&T system helps to reduce the manufacturing and inspection costs drastically.
