Expertise, innovations, technology, trends and everything related to the field of forming technology was buzzing at International Seminar on Forming Technology (ISFT) organized by Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) on 22 January 2014 at its own venue Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC),Bangalore.

The latest trends in forming industry in India and globally was well reflected at the seminar which received an overwhelming response with up to 400 delegates actively participating in the event. The seminar was put on a high note with the inaugural keynote address by Dr. Andreas Sterzing & Mr. Peter Blau, Fraunhofer IWU, Chemnitz, Germany. Theirsession on the ‘Overview and latest development in Metal Forming technologies’ concentrated on the present strategic approaches to meet future challenges in the field of forming technology.
A day before IMTEX Forming 2014, the technology designed to shape the future of forming industry was intensely discussed at ISFT. The seminar was divided into three concurrent sessions under the broad subjects: Processes, Emerging Technologies and New Materials, Tooling & Design.
Speaking on the inauguration Mr. L. Krishnan, President, IMTMA said; “We at IMTMA are constantly focusing on bridging the knowledge gap in the industry and to make the industry technologically more competitive. This international seminar is one such initiative to set the bars higher.” Putting light on the purpose on the event he further added; “Through this International Seminar, we intend to cover the more pertinent aspects of forming technology, its requirement in the manufacturing industry, and the technology gaps that can be bridged.”
The seminar brought together 18 National and International speakers from across the globe representing renowned companies like – Altair, BLM Group, Data M Sheet Metal Solutions GmbH, Dreistern GmbH, Electropneumatics & Hydraulics, Fraunhofer Institute, Fraunhofer IPT, GE Global Research, Godrej & Boyce, IIT- Bombay, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Novelis Inc, Rise-Es Inc, Safan Darley BV, Stratasys, Tata Motors, Yamazaki Mazak India Pvt.Ltd.
The seminar addressed the latest trends, developments and research, in Forming Technology and brought together the fraternity of forming technology on a common platform to discuss related issues.
