ADVANCED MACHINE TOOL TESTING FACILITY (AMTTF) (Joint project of DIPP, MoC&I, Govt. of India, CMTI & IMTMA)
AMTTF is a joint project of the machine tool industry and the Dept of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) of the Govt of India to establish a state-of-the-art machine tool testing facility at the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), Bangalore. This is a dedicated facility equipped with the latest equipment and facilities to test machine tools, accessories, parts and subsystems to establish their performance and reliability against international standards. The facility will help machine tool and related companies to test, trouble shoot and upgrade their products to higher levels of performance.
AMTTF is located within the premises of CMTI as separate unit. AMTTF is equipped with the necessary facilities such as test beds, test equipment, specialized test rigs and other instrumentation. The selection and design of this facility will be done in close consultation with the machine tool industry and the experts of CMTI. AMTTF will also draw on the existing facilities and staff at CMTI to carry out its activities.
AMTTF is structured as a p-p-p venture between the industry and the government. While the government has sanctioned an overall project budget for setting up and running the
AMTTF, this is shared between the government and the machine tool industry for the first three years. AMTTF is expected to function as a self supporting commercial venture and generate its revenue through services to industry.
AMTTF is a Public-Private Partnership entity as an exclusive facility, set up in CMTI, Bangalore, to provide machine tool testing & development services to machine tool and related industries with speed and in a cost competitive manner.
AMTTF is set up jointly by the Government of India and the machine tool industry. The Dept. of Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Govt. of India has sanctioned Rs. 695 lakhs towards setting up the project and the machine tool industry is investing Rs. 300 lakhs in the project, over a three year period. AMTTF will be managed by industry through a steering committee comprising members from industry, government, academia and R&D institutions. It will be responsible to the Governing council of CMTI. The AMTTF is an autonomous functional entity with its own performance metrics, administration and finance wing, etc. It is headed by a Director.
AMTTF has been registered as a not-for-profit society under the Karnataka Societies Act, 1960, with five founding members from industry, namely:
Ace Designers Limited
Ace Manufacturing Systems
Along with two government departments: Dept of Industrial Policies and Promotion (DIPP) and Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Govt Of India.
AMTTF will be equipped with state-of-the-art testing equipment and facilities. The existing facilities of CMTI will also be available to AMTTF to provide specialized testing services. The AMTTF will help companies to test machine tools, sub-assemblies, accessories and parts and help in their further development to higher standards. AMTTF will be a ‘single point window’ facility centre to receive and execute testing and development work from the machine tool and related industries. The activity of the centre is basically service oriented aiming at both routine & investigative work. AMTTF, while being a separate autonomous entity, it works closely with CMTI, using its facilities and technical manpower wherever required.
