IMTEX FORMING 2016 & Tooltech 2016 Inaugurated at BIEC
The Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) inaugurated IMTEX FORMING 2016 and concurrent Tooltech 2016 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre today.
The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of Shri R. V. Deshpande, Hon'ble Minister for Large and Medium Industries, Government of Karnataka, Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, and Mr. Vishvajit Sahay, Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, Government of India. Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej, Chairman Exhibitions, IMTMA, Mr. P.G. Jadeja, President, IMTMA, Mr. P. Ramadas, Vice President, IMTMA and Mr. V. Anbu, Director General, IMTMA were also present.
Welcoming the dignitaries Mr. Godrej said, “Machine tool is an important contributor to India’s economy and investment in machine tools have a direct bearing on the overall economy.” Throwing light on the exhibition he said, “IMTEX is a showcase of modern machines and the modern machinery system.” He further added that IMTMA is expecting around 50,000 visitors during the 6 day event.
Minister Shri R.V. Deshpande who was the chief guest for the occasion spoke on the various initiatives that the State Government of Karnataka is taking for the manufacturing sector and why Karnataka is considered as the best state when it comes to making investments. While lending support to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Mr. Deshpande stressed, “Karnataka has already been on the Make in Karnataka journey for decades through its cluster driven approach which has proved to be beneficial in attracting investments.” Minister Deshpande also said that the state is working towards developing its Tier II and Tier III cities. He urged upon investors to invest in Karnataka and invent in Karnataka.
Mr. Sahay and Dr. Saraswat shared their thoughts on the machine tool industry and the various collaborations that were underway between the industry and the government.
On this occasion IMTMA released its latest publications. These were: IMTEX FORMING 2016 and Tooltech 2016 Catalogue, Country Report on Turkey and Select GCC Countries, Study on Requirements of Machine Tools from Major User Segments, Comprehensive Report on Metal Forming Machinery Industry and Guidebook on Export Packing of Machine Tools.
The IMTMA- Premier Outstanding Entrepreneur Award in memory of Mr. Vinod L. Doshi was awarded to Mr. P. Ramadas, Managing Director, Ace Manufacturing Systems Limited and Vice-President, IMTMA.
The inauguration was followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Exhibition Hall, which opened the doors to IMTEX FORMING 2016 and Tooltech 2016.
IMTEX, which is one of the oldest Indian engineering machine tool exhibition has been synonymous with showcasing latest technologies and equipments catering to the metalworking industry. The display of technologies and innovations at IMTEX FORMING 2016 and Tooltech 2016 are expected to be a driving force for the machine tool industry’s accelerated growth. Technologies displayed at this edition include servo presses, hydroforming, plasma cutting, high power fibre laser cutting, profile bending machines, robotic welding and service, and welding technologies.
IMTEX FORMING 2016 spread over 6 days will see around 475 exhibitors from 23 countries including India exhibiting around 500 live machines. Overseas representation include 4 country group participation from China, Germany, Japan and Taiwan –which are amongst the top machine tool manufacturing countries of the world. Japan is having an inaugural country pavilion in this exhibition. The exhibition will feature more than 70 trade delegations from public and private sector representing various manufacturing industries such as automotive, aerospace, defence, railways, power, capital goods, general engineering, white and brown goods, and many more. For the first time 40 institutions are participating in i2 Academia Pavilion who will make presentations on various R&D projects that are undergoing in these institutions.
